Pademba Prison gets Christmas ‘Samba’ from Nasser Ayoub

Award wining philanthropist and popular businessman Nasser Ayoub continues to give helping hand to individuals and various institutions across the country. The Pademba Road maximum prison is the latest to benefit from his goodwill gesture.

Ayoub stunned senior prisons officers on Monday morning with a surprise visit to their Headquarters at New England Ville with a van loaded with cartoons of laundry/bathing soap.

Making his presentation to the Prisons Department, the Proprietor of Hotel Africanus, Nasser Ayoub said he is happy to make the donations to inmate of the Pademba Road Prison. He said inmates could use the soap for laundry and bathing purposes.

Ayoub said that he wished he could have done more and urged that people should emulate his goodwill. “I want to throw a challenge for people out there to do more than what I am doing,” he said. He assured that the donation to prisons would not be the first nor the last.”

Ayoub said he has tasked himself to do whatever he can to make Sierra Leone a better place for all. “If each and every one of us can pull our little resources together, we can definitely turn this place around.”

Cecilia Kai Kai, Acting Deputy Director of Prisons thanked Ayoub for the donation. She urged the public to follow the footsteps of Mr. Ayoub. “We want the public to come onboard because Government alone cannot solve all the problems. We want to partner with as many individuals as possible. We really appreciate you and we will ensure that this little gesture go down to the inmates.”

Madam Kai Kai said the donation is very timely. “This donation comes at the right time especially when we are approaching the Christmas season. She expressed hope that the inmates will be happy to receive the 5,000 cakes of soap.”

“We want people to care for these prisoners. It doesn’t mean that when you are locked up that’s the end of it. Even though they have committed crimes but we want them to know that we still love them because we have moved from impunity to correctional measures,” Madam Kai Kai said.

It could be recalled that Nasser Ayoub has made several donations to individuals and institutions over the years.  Notable among others is the 60 pairs of footwear to theMethodistBoysHigh School, a 6.5KVA generator to former Head of State Rtd. Capt. Strasser, and a TV and satellite package to the Kroobay community.
