AIRTEL partners with AWOL to fight against Ebola

Airtel on Monday partnered with All Works of Life (AWOL) in fighting against the dreadful disease Ebola.

Speaking at the launch, Hon Sho Sawyerr of AWOL in his opening statement said that they decided to partner with Airtel for a genuine cause which is the fight against Ebola.  He further stated that they have tagged this campaign as “AWOL join Airtel for fet Ebola- Put Salone fos pa well bodi bizness”.

Chairman of AWOL Junior Navo said that this is the first time AWOL has partnered with an organisation.  He said, “We found Airtel to be very reliable and that’s why we decided to partner with them.  Ebola is a very dangerous disease which needs serious attention. The death rate is getting higher every day.  We choose June 16th because AWOL is synonymous to that date.  We want to use this day to launch the campaign which will last for one month.  AWOL and Airtel are two big organisations which are known for steadfastness.”

Managing Director of Airtel, Sudiptu Chowdhury, said it is a time to wage war against Ebola and get to know where it is.  It is a privilege to partner with AWOL.  Mr. Sudiptu therefore calls on every Sierra Leonean to partner to fight against Ebola.  We are partnering with AWOL to sensitise all the schools about this virus and provide them with sanitizers, pamphlets and leaflets.

Mr. Charles Mambu, head for Health For All Coalition said that 157 people have been tested so far and 62 have been confirmed positive for Ebola and 19 have died.

According to the Chief of Daru in the Kailahun district, Mr Mambu said that more than 38 people have died from this disease.
