Munu must mind the cliques

We have observed that many youths in Sierra Leone have resorted to organizing themselves into dangerous groups called cliques that have nomenclatures that can scare the worst devil.  (Photo: Inspector General Munu)

Gangsters belonging to these cliques are easily identified by the bold tattoo marks on their bodies and the militant nicknames they carry.

Sometime ago, a deadly clique was busy terrorizing peaceful residents of Kenema City until when the no-nonsense Assistant Inspector-General of Police, cracked down on them, arresting and detaining many suspected clique members some of whom were bearing daggers and other weapons which they used to rob people at night.

The mass arrest of suspected clique members caused legal practitioners in the city to raise concern, claiming that many innocent people were arrested during the raid and detained.

But after the raid, residents of Kenema once more slept in peace as the clique members submerged. Some escaped from Kenema to Bo where they began to wreck havoc on people but were soon contained.

Considering the fact that we are coming from the ashes of war, the proliferation of such dangerous cliques among the youths should not be swept under the carpet as these keep are serving as a serious security threat to this nation.

We are, therefore, calling on the Inspector General of Police, Francis Munu to mind the mushrooming cliques and to do all in his power to nip them in the bud.
