Simbo’s Al Hilal sack Brazilian coach Campos

According to the Sudanese Champions, “The board decided to terminate the contract of Brazilian technician coach Paulo Campos and he has been informed of his release.”

Campos who was protesting after AS Vita was awarded a dubious penalty in the 97th minute of their Orange Africa Champions League tie in Congo Kinshasa last Sunday put up a strong feeling of annoyance.

Sierra Express Media Sports UK understands that Campos left his technical area in protest forcing his way onto the pitch and allegedly assaulting match officials.

The players of Al Hilal were also protesting their dismay. However Al Hilal Secretary General Emad Al Tayed stated on club Facebook page – Campos’s action may have severe consequences on the club.

Al Hilal lost the game 2-1 because of the penalty.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal’s Sierra Leone defender David Simbo (in photo), who was vital in the visitors back four posted on his Facebook page just few hours after their defeat to AS Vita. Today is one of my unforgettable moments in football, I will never forget this day, I cried on the pitch just to see how this referee was officiating this match, we lost in the 97 minute after an added 5 minutes of extra time we played for 7 minutes and give penalty, am so proud of my teammates’ job, well done.”

Al Hilal will face TP Mazembe in the next round, while AS Vita travels to take on Zamalek.
