Due to Ebola Deadly Virus Sierra Leone’s national team in travel predicament

Reports reaching SEM Sports UK indicate that players and officials are presently facing a dilemma on their way to Seychelles for the second leg match at Stade Linite in Victoria on Saturday (kick-off 18:30 CAT).

Turkey based midfielder Khalifa Jabbie and Atlanta Silverbacks defender (in photo) both posted on their Facebook account that Sierra Leone national team have been refused entry to the Indian Ocean Island.

“We’ve just been stopped again at Nairobi airport saying that they got an email from the ‪# Seychelles government that we should not board the flight to the Seychelles” Jabbie posted.

The Silverbacks defender posted, “Can’t believe the Seychelles government is trying to stop us from entering their country. This is unbelievable.”

Latest update from The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed Sierra Leone National Team, Leone Stars are currently held up in Nairobi, Kenya en-route to Seychelles.

“According to the Seychelles FA, the decision to stop the Sierra Leone delegation from entering Seychelles came from their government as a precautionary measure against the dreaded Ebola virus but promised that they will do all in their capacity to remedy the situation”.

However, SEM Sports has been reliably informed that the Sierra Leone Assistant Coach, Tom Harris has been at the Seychelles capital since Wednesday this week and was well received by the Seychelles FA.

Another report from SLFA stated “The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has informed SLFA that it would be advantageous to the Sierra Leone delegation if they are refused entry and Seychelles would definitely face some penalties while Sierra Leone will progress to the group stage”.

Meanwhile, a meeting between the government of Seychelles, the Ministry of Health and the Seychelles FA Officials is currently ongoing in the capital city.

Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars look to close up a place in the group phase of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying if they can capitalise on their first leg victory in Freetown July 19 2014 with Khalifa Jabbie and Umaru Bangura accounting netting the goals.

The result leaves the West Africans in prime position to advance through to the group phase.
