Women’s Forum prays for an end to Ebola

In a bid to help Government in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus that has ravaged lives in the country, Women’s Forum on Monday 11th August 2014 offered prayers to end the outbreak at the YWCA Old Hall, Brookfields in Freetown.

The event brought together various women’s organizations in the Western Area to join the fight against Ebola, especially when there is no scientific cure for the ailment.

The President of the Women’s Forum, Mrs. Maude Peacock described the prayer session important especially when spiritual leaders have said that prayer is the only deliverance to end the outbreak in the country disclosing that the Forum comprises of religious organizations and professionals in different disciplines.

Mrs. Maude Peacock continued that women are the vanguards in any crisis and informed that more women have died of the virus since its outbreak in May this year reiterating that since there is no scientific solution to the plague, they are invoking the intervention of God Almighty who is the sole controller of every situation.

She also disclosed that the Forum has been engaged in community sensitizations on Ebola particularly how people should protect themselves from contacting the virus and what should be done with persons suspected of having the symptoms.

According to the Women’s Forum President, the women came together to offer prayers for the country and for those who have lost their lives in the course of fighting the disease disclosing that they hope to continue with the prayer sessions in their homes, offices, villages and towns for spiritual divine to prevail over the sickness.

Concluding, Mrs. Maude Peacock revealed that they have not received funding to undertake the prayer sessions that are being organized out of their respective personal funds.
