Ambassador Kargbo pays courtesy call, discusses Ebola and 2014 Hajj with Guinean counterpart

Sierra Leone’s Ambassador in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, 27th August 2014, paid a courtesy call on his Guinean counterpart at the Diplomatic Quarters in Riyadh.

In welcoming H.E Ambassador Alhaji M.S. Kargbo and delegation, H.E Cherif Mahmoud Nabaniou reminisced the cordial bilateral ties between the two sister countries spanning back to decades.

The two Ambassadors discussed about the deadly Ebola virus affecting their respective countries and its effect on the performance of their intending pilgrims for this year’s Muslim pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca. Both diplomats exchanged experiences and views as to how to combat the deadly Ebola Viral Disease that is claiming many lives in their countries.

They agreed that their meeting at this time is a move in the right direction; especially now when cooperation between the Mano River Union countries is needed more than ever before.

It would be recalled that leaders of the sub-regional Mano River Union (MRU), Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, and host, Prof. Alpha Conde of Guinea, recently held a one-day Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Mano River Union (MRU) in the Guinean capital, Conakry on how to bring the outbreak under control.

The MRU is an economic bloc grouping: Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Cote d’Ivoire.
