SWASAL will not do live commemtary of the Ivory Coast- Sierra Leone 2015 AFCON qualifying match

The Executive of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) regrettably announces to its members and the general public that it will not do live radio commentary of the AFCON 2015 qualifying match between ‘The Elephants’ of Ivory Coast and ‘Leone Stars’ at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Saturday 6th September 2014.

This is because the Government of Ivory Coast on Wednesday 3rd September 2014 informed Airlines doing business in Sierra Leone that “it will not allow Sierra Leonean passport holders or foreigners residing in Sierra Leone to go to their countries.”

However, to partially update the general public about unfolding events before, during and after the match which starts at 1600hrs GMT, all are advised to tune to Radio Mercury FM 92.0 and Kalleone Radio FM 105.7 as seasoned sports journalists will from 1500hrs GMT be at hand to give out adequate and appropriate news and information on the match.

Meanwhile, the Executive is making frantic efforts to bring live radio commentary of the 2015 AFCON qualifying match between Sierra Leone and DR Congo in Lubumbashi on Wednesday 10th September, 2014.

Sorry for the unfortunate situation.

Signed Frank M.E Cole, National Secretary General
