Aggrieved dock workers display division

It has been reported to this media house that on Wednesday 29th October this year, aggrieved members within the Dock Workers Union in the capital city of  Freetown, west of Sierra Leone displayed their grievances to the public by staging an act of demonstration against the official heads of that company for depriving them of their rights to earn their long standing worker’s benefits the company owes them.

The demonstration attracted major public attention and a concern for the media in these crucial moments of the country that is suffering from the outbreak of the Ebola virus.

According to reliable sources, there has been an embarrassing confrontation between members of the union and their union president Mr. Alpha Sulaiman Bundu, blaming him for his negligence in addressing issues affecting his followers.

Sources further disclosed that in midst of these demonstrations before the October 29, public grievance shown by members of the dock union, the Sierra Leone Police Force was informed by certain members of the union regarding the threatening confrontations between members of the union and their union president and that the SLP at Ross Road police division intervened, arrested and put under custody two aggrieved workers that were suspected played an insinuating role and that according to LUC Sesay that demonstration will be dangerous in a state of emergency and to the current ebola outbreak in the country.

Sources disclosed that the arrested dock workers were initially screened for the Ebola virus before custody in the police station and that the Local Unit Commander of the Ross Road Police division, Mr. Samuel Sesay calls on other members in the union to stay calm and channel their issues in a most peaceful and respectful manner to their official authorities.

As president of the union, Mr. Bundu calls on all members to regard the issue that has brought the nation into a state of emergency and put their grievances to rest and assures them that their demands will be addressed to the most appropriate time
