Corrupt Sierra Leoneans are enemies of peace and development

Corrupt Sierra Leoneans are enemies of peace and development

Truly speaking, it is an open secret that Sierra Leoneans, especially the so-called politicians and senior civil servants  who see corruption as a way of life therefore, they should take it as a profession  at the expense of the nation, are complete enemies of peace, unity, progress and development in the country. As result, such people are not fit to be amongst honest and decent patriotic fellow Sierra Leoneans in the country. Therefore, they should be treated like beasts in the bush because they are depriving the poor masses basic right to live a happy life and also the country’s progress and development.  (Photo: Tony Bee, author)

Sierra Leoneans who have been alleged of misusing the Ebola funds  entrusted to them  for the purpose of fighting  against the common enemy of human survival , Ebola Virus, if found guilty of such unpatriotic act, they are complete enemies of peace, progress and development in the country. Therefore, they should be asked to refund all the monies they embezzled, seize their properties and send  them to prison for a very good number of years in order to set a bright example for those who take bribery and corruption as a profession at the detriment of the poor masses.

Some Sierra Leoneans are too wicked and heartless in the country. These alleged corrupt Sierra Leoneans could be the causers of many strikes and the loss of many precious lives of our brothers and sisters in the country for failing to pay workers allowances and salaries accordingly. They sat on the allowances and salaries of poor workers and telling them that there is no enough money to pay them or pay them on time.

While some of the poor workers, including nurses, clerks, labourers, messengers, and grave diggers were doing the dirty jobs with suffering in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus, the heartless enemies of peace and development were busy pocketing their monies. In view of that, sometimes the poor and defenceless workers found it very difficult to receive their honest hard working reward fortnight allowances and monthly salaries. Sometimes unless they strike or threaten to laydown tools or withholding their service before they were paid. While the alleged unpatriotic enemies of peace and development and others were busy swelling their bank accounts, building mansions and buying luxurious cars at the expense of the poor suffering masses lives.

When President Koroma was busy day and night in fighting against the deadly disease, Ebola virus in many diverse ways, including  the visiting of all Ebola affected districts, towns and villages to educate the entire masses in the country, the unpatriotic wicked satanic and heatless fellow Sierra Leoneans were busy on, “capu, capu” Ebola money.

For instance they were saying “ah, man or sam, ebola nor fo don a-nor finish me hose. Ah sam mesef-sef, a- juse don buy a big land fo build me hose, bo,  me get hose them, nar very good car a-want, the latest model. Ah pa, this nar we tem we fo enjoy befo ebola go don”. Before Ebola fight will end, I have to finish my unfinished house, buy big land to build houses. I have houses; I only need to buy a very good car, especially the latest model in the market. Man, this is our time, we have to enjoy before Ebola fight will finish. This is “our time,” is the corrupt phrase for corrupt Sierra Leonean politicians and civil servants that they  normally use to destroy the country’s progress and development through corrupt activities.

However, one thing that I will like every patriotic and nationalist Sierra Leone to know is that President Koroma alone cannot do everything in the country without our honest and sincere support and commitment as peace, progress and development loving Sierra Leoneans.

In view of that President koroma, for those Sierra Leoneans who think their unpatriotic selfish and greedy attitudes and behaviours come first before the nation’s progress and development, please tell them that you can bite, kick and box. You have been warning them for a very long time. Please no more time to warn crook and wicked Sierra Leoneans who never satisfy with what they have. It is time for serious action against any individual or group found guilty, especially the Oliver Twist ask for more corrupt Sierra Leoneans.

This is a real opportunity for you Mr. President to tell Sierra Leoneans who take bribery and corruption as a culture in the country enough, is enough by deal with them accordingly without fear or favour. Because they are enemies of peace, progress and development in the country as I said. They are also great enemies of your agenda for “Prosperity”. Therefore, if you deal with them accordingly, no decent patriotic and honest, progress and development loving Sierra Leonean will accuse you of political witch hunting for putting down your heavy weigh political harmer on harm.

These so-called Sierra Leoneans have caused serious harm and embarrassments to many patriotic honest and decent hard working fellow Sierra Leoneans both in out of the country because of the corrupt stigma they put the country into. By the time we are in the process of take off the brutal civil war stigma from us, Ebola virus outbreak brought another stigma for us and now we are in a stinky pool of corruption stigma that is very difficult to swim across because of it bad odour.

President Koroma, these wicked self-seeking corrupt Sierra Leoneans have also caused serious damage at both local and international level.  For example, on the 19th of February 2015, the Australia Africa Ebola Action Group (AAEAG) had a meeting to see how best we could put hands together as Africans to raise funds to support the country in the fight against Ebola. It is an organisation that comprises of all Africans in Australia, especially in Sydney. Guess what came out of the meeting, a postponement  of all the organisation’s fund raising activities because of the bad news of corruption issues that are coming from the country in connection with Ebola funds been donated by individual and organisations. The perceptions were that the general public might not buy the fund raising ticks because of the corrupt news in the country.

Another heartbreaking issue is  that, one of the charitable organisations, Kanga Schools Project that I am personally working as volunteer because of the support it gives in the country, is about to pull-out from the country. Kanga Schools Project is one of the organisations from Australia that is doing marvellous work in the country, especially in the educational sector. You might be interested to know that it is currently supporting 70 tertiary institutions, ranging from primary schools to universities in the country. And it’s also sponsoring six university students with one secondary pupil. If this organisation is to foldup it services from the country because of excessive corrupt practices by unpatriotic fellow Sierra Leoneans, it will be a big loss, particularly in the educational sector. Our University brothers who are direct beneficiaries of such wonderful project will automatically become university dropouts and the 70 tertiary institutions will no longer receive any support from Kanga Schools Project because of self-seeking corrupt Sierra Leoneans.

From 2007 to 2013, the organisation used to ship two 40ft containers full with educational materials, ranging from pens, pencils, exercise books, computers, printers, generators, sola lamps, etc. every year.  It has also built 13 modern school libraries across the country. We have been facing lots of problems, especially in clearing the containers in the country because of the Water Quay bribery syndicate and corrupt bureautic systems that are operating in the various offices. Such corrupt attitudes and behaviours of some Water Quay Officials have led to the stopping of the shipment of the two 40ft containers every year to the country.

The project management in Australia felt let down and discouraged because of the unpatriotic self-seeking behaviour of some Sierra Leoneans. “Sierra Leoneans are not grateful and appreciative, particularly for what we are doing for them in their country, especially some of them. They only concerned about their individual pockets, we have to stop wasting our time” said one of the volunteers. Now I am fighting tooth and nail with prayers to see that the project continue to exist in the country by talking to management because they are contemplating of taking it to another country because of the unpatriotic  corrupt attitudes and behaviours of some destructive Sierra Leoneans.

However, I believe if you really take drastic measures against such heartless and destructive corrupt elements in the country, they will rethink towards their decision, especially now that the country is in dare deed of the service of the project to improve the education system.

Mr President, honestly speaking corruption is not only taking place on Ebola funds, it’s all over the country. For example, Police stations, check points, Water Quay and Customs are some of the breeding grounds for corrupt activities in the country. These departments are some of the places that discouraging genuine business men, women and investors in the country. If you think I am telling a story ask those who ship containers to the country and those who travel  with their goods through police check points  and customs, including vehicles , they will tell you more about the frustrations and discouragement they are facing in clearing their containers from the Quay and Customs.

If you pretend not to understand their unpatriotic attitude and behaviour corrupt language, that is to say you do not want to bribe them or you do not allow them to take some of your best valuable items for free from the containers or goods you are in trouble with them. They will frustrate you, by presenting unnecessary huge fake charges that will end up going into their pocks when paying them. They will not even give you receipts or genuine receipts for such payment.

Sometimes many genuine businessmen and women will decide to leave their containers and goods unclear because of such hatred and bad heart unpatriotic charges.  Sometimes they will prefer to scarify their hard earned money they spent on their containers and vehicles to ship them and leave them, the containers or goods in the hands of such wicked enemies of peace, progress and development in the country. Many of the containers, vehicles or goods they put on sale at the quay and customs at the end of every year are the affected ones according to my investigation. Please ACC find out if I am a tale teller.

Mr President, to be honest with you we are currently feeling the pain right in our bones, especially our heads. Our heads are presently aching because of the current web of corruption stigma we find ourselves as Sierra Leoneans. Some of us we are completely being traumatised and depressed because of the chronic corruption in the country that tend to have no solution. We are feeling it because some of us normally risk our jobs to go out and lobby, advocate to the Australian Government, especially when it was a bit stubborn to support our country. We also lobby and advocate to Charitable organisations and individual philanthropies to assist our country. Weekends, we leave our families to attend meetings for the sake of our beloved Sierra Leone.

Therefore, it’s really disheartening to hear that when such monies and medical materials arrive in the country, our brothers and sisters are misusing them to satisfy their greedy and selfish nature at the expense of the poor masses that we are striving for. Now, now as I write, another one 40ft container full with medical items and food items is on its way to Freetown from Sydney, under the umbrella of the Sierra Leoneans Ebola Action Group Association (SLEAGA) in Australia.

We are NOT millionaires in Australia as corrupt and heartless Sierra Leoneans may think. In fact some of our brothers and sisters are not working and others have no permanent jobs. But because they love the country, whenever we ask them to contribute they are always willing to give whatever they have to support the country in order to improve the lives of our people.

I also believe that some of our brothers and sisters in other countries who are supporting the country are not millionaires as others may think. They are working very hard to get their monies therefore; it is not good to misuse such monies or frustrating them in clearing their containers and vehicles from the quay and customs by corrupt enemies of peace, progress and development unpatriotic so-called Sierra Leoneans in the country.

Please Mr President does something very serious to stop or minimise bribery and the massive corrupt practices in the country. So that honest and decent hard working patriotic Sierra Leoneans and the international community will not become disgruntled because of  bribery  and corrupt attitudes and behaviours of some Sierra Leoneans.
