Maada Bio displays humility at OBBA event in London

The former Head of State, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio who is also an alumnus of the Bo Secondary School demonstrated his humility at a refreshment event following a thanksgiving service of the Old Bo Boys Association (UK & Ireland) on Sunday 12th April 2015 at the Walworth Methodist Church, London.

At the refreshment event, the Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio offered to be part of the team of OBBA members  responsible to serve the guests food for the event.  Many of the guests at the event were shocked when Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio was offered a seat but instead requested for an apron and glove to be part of the team to serve the guests who included children, women, members of other Alumni Associations and OBBA members. One of the female guests who was personally served by Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio said “It is great to see a politician like Maada Bio who seems very down to earth interacting with people so well without any barrier or status. He is genuinely friendly and by assisting to serve people shows that he cares about people. He will be a good leader for our country”.

The Old Bo Boys Association (UK & Ireland) was celebrating the 109th anniversary of the Bo Secondary School. The theme for the thanksgiving service was leadership. And in the inspiring sermon by the Preacher, Rev. John Macauley, one of the qualities he highlighted for a good leader is humility; the quality of a leader to be humble and modest. Also, during the thanksgiving service the vote of thanks was giving by the Chairman OBBA (UK &Ireland), Mr. Tamba Lamina who thanked the guests for their attendance and extolled the virtues of the Bo Secondary School.

It could be recalled that the Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio recently returned to London after he travelled to Sierra Leone to mourn the deaths of Hon. Musa Tamba Sam, Hon. Maigore Kallon and attended the funeral ceremony of Ayo Jones who was the former SLPP Young Generation Leader in Kenema District. Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio’s trip was initially planned for two weeks but he had to extend his stay in Sierra Leone for more than a week to show solidarity with the national leadership of the SLPP, members and supporters following a resolution that was reached by the party amongst which was a resolution for political actions for the sacking of Vice President Sam Sumana.
