Simbo: We want to go as far as possible

Sierra Leone and Al Hilal defender David Simbo is targeting continental glory this season and the 25-year-old has said he want to help Al Hilal go as far as possible in the 2015 premier African clubs continental competition.

Al Hilal progresses to the 2015 CAF Champions League group stages after eliminating DR Congo’s SM Sanga Balende 2 nil on aggregate in Khartoum on Sunday.

Simbo’s central defensive partner skipper Saif Masawi scored the only goal in the 61st minutes in front over 40,000 home crowd at the Khartoum Stadium.

Speaking to footballsierraleone.net just after the match Simbo admitted that they will have to cope better but will be a great achievement if Al Hilal go further in the competition.

“It will be such an achievement if we can go further. Our aim is always to go as far as possible in this competition. We are highly supported by everyone attached to the club,”

“In Africa, the competition is difficult, there are teams much stronger,” said the Sierra Leonean.

“The competition is not easy much difficult and heartfelt in this stage, despite still learning, we will show no complacency, the important thing is to keep winning matches,” He said.

Al Hilal exit the competition last season after defeating Zamalek 2-1 at home in their final Group stage encounter.

The Sudanese end their continental campaign in third spot securing seven points in Group A.

Meanwhile, Alexandria-based club preceded to the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history following a stunning comeback against AC Leopards of the Republic of Congo to advance on aggregate 2-1.

Smouha will be making their first appearance in the competition and they are the only club representing Egypt in the group stages following Al Ahly’s failure to overcome Maghreb Tetouan in Sunday’s other qualifiers.

The group stages draw will take place in Egypt tomorrow Tuesday the 5th of May. Eights teams are as follows, TP Mazembe, ES Setif, Al Hilal, Al Merriekh, USM Alger, Moghreb Tétouan, MC El Eulma, Smouha.
