For Gross Disregard for Authorities Indebted Ebola Coordinator Expelled

The Coordinator of the District Ebola Response Center (DERC), Bonthe District, Harold Kamara, is reported to have been expelled from the district following a unanimous decision taken by all the Paramount Chiefs, Section Chiefs, Town Chiefs, the inter-religious council, civil society, youth organizations, officials of the Bonthe District Council and other stakeholders in the district.

The decision is reported to have been taken during a mammoth meeting convened on Monday, 21^st, July, 2015, in the conference hall of the Bonthe District Council office in Mattru Jong.

Among the reasons stated for the expulsion of the DERC Coordinator were that he had no respect for the traditional authorities including the Paramount Chiefs AND EVEN THE District Council Chairlady, Rita Savage, that he never called stakeholders in meetings to consult with them, he dissolved the Ebola Task Force and failed to pay the salaries of junior and senior workers for over six months.

The stakeholders also noted that the DERC Coordinator was heavily indebted as he had pay many contractors one being John Gbonda who renovated the DERC office in Mattru Jong and the other being a group of youths who fenced the office. The stakeholders added that they had several complaint letters against the Coordinator, and, therefore, they could not continue working with him.

Meanwhile, the stakeholders have reportedly instructed the council to write a formal letter to the Chief Executive Officer of the National Ebola Response Center (NERC), Palo Conteh, informing him about their decision.

Harold Kamara could not be contacted as he was not in the district when the stakeholders to the decision and all efforts to reach his phone proved futile.
