Domestic Violence On The Increase Crime Officer Says

The Crime Officer of the Family Support Unit (FSU) Eastern Police Divisional Headquarter PC Kaisala, has disclosed to this medium that domestic violence is on the increase in the country.

He stated that the rate of complaints by women in relation to their husbands is very alarming while rape and sexual penetration are on the decrease, advising that men should avoid children under the age of 18 as it is illegal and the Officer Commanding FSU, Inspector Benson Williams is firm on cases that have to do with rape and sexual penetration.

He called on human rights organizations to engage women across the country to fully understand the issues on gender based violence and other international treaties so that they can better present their issue when and if the need arises.

PC Kaisala furthered that as a nation the awareness on human right laws and gender based violence issues are part and parcel of state law hence the need for more education so that citizens can approach the police with issues they consider as a violation.
