Mr. Taylor’s confirmation did not come as a surprise to many who have known him for the past 20 years. He is a man of action that has always been eager to provide astute leadership in any department he is assigned. He is an excellent team player and pragmatic problem solver .

He has been credited by the entire SLCB staff since taking over as Acting MD with helping the bank stay afloat during turbulent economic times. Barely two years on, SLCB not only stands on solid financial ground but is making substantial gains.

As a measure of its success during George Taylor’s tenure as Acting Managing Director, the bank recorded a good operational profit in 2015.

Mr Taylor is viewed as a great team player who makes every staff member feel belonged to the organization and have a valuable role to play.

He literally grew up at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank where he has spent 37 years, starting as a bank clerk and rising through the ranks.

Speaking to this reporter after his confirmation, Mr. Taylor said the position he has attained is for every Sierra Leonean.

He particularly heaped praises on the Director of Business, Idrissa Alooma Kamara; Head of Consumers Credit, Abu Kargbo;  Director of Finance and Administration, Bockarie Kalokoh;  and all junior and senior staff  who have stood firm to ensure that the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank remains the number one banking institution in the country. “All the progress and achievements I have made for the past two years is because I am working with a dedicate staff,” he underscored.

Mr Taylor and his management team have motivated staff heavily for the past two years, upgraded some junior staff and reviewed the salaries of all SLCB staff thereby increasing staff morale and discipline.

Customer service too has improved considerably. Customers who used to grumble about poor quality service now speak admirably of the dramatic changes that they see and experience including the bank’s fully air conditioned working environment and prompt service. They also now perceive the management as a friendly but no-nonsense team.
