CCACN SPORTS Awards

soccerThe CCACN SPORTS Awards is an annual event held by the Pride of Africa Cultural Entertainment Inc., to honour and celebrate players who have achieved excellence in their field of sports organized by the Canadian Cup of African Caribbean Nations Committee. Three awards will be presented each year at the Gala and Fundraising Dinner: Lifetime Achievement, Performance & Excellence, and Knowledge & Leadership. As well as honouring the finest athletes in culture related sports, the CCACN Gala and Fundraising Dinner raises funds for the Winning Team’s Community Support Fund, which provides scholarships and awards to youths currently pursuing their post-secondary education in sport-related fields or a charitable cause selected by the champions.

CCACN Awards Gala and Fundraising Dinner – November 8th, 2009

Over 300 soccer players participated at the 1st Annual CCACN Soccer Tournament and it is in recognition of their efforts, the Awards and Gala and Fundraising Dinner presented by PACE Nations Group Inc will be held on November 8th, 2009.

This exciting “Cultures With One Passion” themed evening will be hosted by Mr. Brodie Osome and features The Right Honourable Margarett R. Best (Minister of Health Promotion) as our keynote speaker. Augustine Eguavoen, Former Captain and Coach of the Nigerian National Soccer Team will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Honor. Frankie Mohammed, Account Manager at the Royal Bank of Canada & Coach of the soccer team representing St. Vincent; Innocent Karuhanga, Coach of the soccer team representing Uganda; Jean Beto, Coach of the soccer team representing Ivory Coast, are nominees for the Performance & Excellence Honor. And Mr. Garnet Manning, Former member of Brampton City Council; Breakaway Relief Care, Families in Action; Duaale Mohammed Rage, Coach of the Somali National & Local Soccer Team, are nominees for the Knowledge & Leadership Honor.

Also nominated in other categories are players and community members from Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Eritrea, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Through the generous donations of our partners and attendees, we hope to raise over $10,000 for our Scholarship Fund and Community development programs.
