Author: Madieu Jalloh - SEM

Mr. Robin Coker, Executive Director, SLIEPA Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency has informed journalists from various press houses that the International Investors Conference on Sierra Leone to be held on the 18th-19th November this year in London would be centered around the investment potentials of Sierra Leone to the outside world. This conference he said will be a showcasing of the country’s investment potential to international partners who might want to invest in both greener virgin fields and the already existing investment bounty in the country.

Mr. Patrick Caulker also from SLIEPA emphasized that all these would be geared towards achieving the president’s agenda for change. He reiterated that the programme is a two day conference where discussion on the 1st day would be channelled on trade and investment forum, and day 2 would be a consultative group meeting to solicit feed back from foreign investors.

Mr. Caulker added that there are lots of arable lands around the country that are unexplored. Investors would be encouraged to look into our tourism sector, agricultural, fishing and mining sectors in the country.

Minister of Information and Communication, Mr. I.B. Kargbo briefed journalists and other citizens on the conference in Copenhagen, Denmark on climate change. Scientists have found out that the Pama frost at the south-pole is melting away gradually and as a result it has caused a devastating effect on our environment, such as high temperature and the depletion of our natural environment the Minister told media men. He further intimated the press that the discussion on climate change will continue.
