Author: Mohamed K Senesie SEM

Joseph Y. Fofanah, the coordinator of the Iraqi employment facility for Sierra Leoneans has said that the programme is still on track, despite the delays in the travelling of the next batch.

Speaking during an exclusive interview, Mr. Fofanah said the programme is on course and said the only issue holding up the scheme is the coordination and collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the company in charge of the employment.

According to Mr. Fofanah, some 3,000 Sierra Leonean will benefit from the scheme.

Mr. Musa Lahai, a retired Captain in the Sierra Leone Army has, during a snap interview with Sierra Express Media called on the government and the authorities involved to fast track the process. “We are appealing to the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the government, on one hand and the company responsible for the employment to try their level best to fast-track the program as it is the only hope for us now,” he said.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the delay in the program is the result of bureaucratic standstill in the Office of National Security.
