Anti-Corruption traps Hamzza Sesay

Popular businessman and socialite Mr. Hamzza Sesay, of Mabella Industries Limited faces a ten count charge, relating to misappropriation of public funds and “making excessive payment from public revenue for sub-standard or defective goods contrary to section 48 of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008.”

Hamzza Sesay had been charged together with Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu of failing to comply with laws, procedures and guidelines relating to the procurement of property, tendering of contracts and management of funds contrary to Section 48(2) (b) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008. Dr. Bendu and Hamzza Sesay appeared before the Hon. Justice Nicholas Browne-Marke. The matter has been adjourned to 6th November 2009.

The ACC charged the two as part of their commitment in ensuring that public officers comply with the procurement laws of Sierra Leone.

Both of them pleaded not guilty.
