SLBC in Le 3Bn debt!

SLBC in Le 3Bn debt! thumbnail

The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation (SLBC) is to pay Rokel Commercial Bank a sum totaling Le 3 billion.

Findings have it that the SLBC, on number of occasions, use its overdraft facility to withdraw colossal amounts from an account it has at the Rokel Commercial. Being a national broadcaster, and soon after its transformation, the SLBC has had easy days receiving monies on loan from state institutions.

It is a fact that the SLBC received US$1.9 from the National Telecommunication Commission on loan, but never paid back. Credible findings by this press states that officials of the SLBC do have overdraft facilities at the Rokel Commercial Bank and have used same to accumulate debt to a jingle of about three billion Leones. In a telephone interview with the Director of SLBC, Elvis Gbanagbom, he confessed having an overdraft terms with Rokel Commercial Bank, but declined making any comment in relation to the three billion Leones his institution allegedly collected on loan from the forenamed bank.

Our reporter was also at the office of the Director General of SLBC for an interview, but got no collaboration from him, but was directed to one Ransford Kabia.

“I have a meeting now Mr. Go and talk to my Director of Communication, Ransford Kabia,” Elvis Gbanagbom said.

At Ransford’s office, he told our reporter that he has no business with financial issues and has nothing to say in relation to the alleged Le 3 billion loan.

An attempt to get comment from the public relations officer of Rokel Commercial Bank proved futile.

Public’s perception survey accused the SLBC of wasteful spending and calls for a post-mortem of how the NATCOM’s US$1.9 and the Rokel Commercial Bank’s alleged three billion Leones debts were accumulated and spent.

It has reached this press that the radio studio at SLBC lacks standard computers and better working tools. That the only computer they patch up with is in complete trip up – dilapidated.

It is revealed though that the usual 500 units top card quota for TV and radio producers has stopped for some two weeks now.
