Toronto, Ontario – On November 8th inside the 1001 Nights Banquet Hall, we the community celebrated history and culture. With the Honourable Margarett R. Best – Minister of Health Promotion (Encouraging Healthy Living in Sports) as our keynote speaker, her words of encouragement and inspiration filled the room with some “good-feeling” moments and uplifted the participants to work harder in preparation for the years to come. The Minister also encouraged the audience to do their part in community development for the youths and to enjoy a stronger and stable active life.

To our Distinguished Icon and lifetime achievement honouree – Mr. AUGUSTINE OWEN EGUAVOEN, your life’s work speaks for itself and we are truly honored to be in your presence. Over your illustrious career, you have uplifted many but especially inspired the young. Your true leadership and humanitarian qualities are far too notable for the world not to hear of.

We celebrate your success and stand in partnership with you in continuing to help the less fortunate; especially the kids in your academic and coaching programs back in Nigeria. We promise to STAND & WORK with you and your government in the nearest future through your soccer academy. Sports is the key essence to a strong mind development for youths and as Canadians, we support these types of endeavors. You left us with a sense of responsibility to focus on helping the not so privileged not just by words but actions.

From the kids you voluntarily coached while visiting here – Canada: Mr. Eguavoen encourages us to be very attentive during training session and further emphasize the importance of fundamentals in the game. He is truly a hero and icon. Some kids will never have this opportunity to meet a legend and learn from them. We are very fortunate and we thank the organization for sharing with us a World Cup player and legend”. Thank you coach!  Congratulations once again.

To our Champions – St. Vincent Football Club (Toronto). YOU ARE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO and we are PROUD of all the young men and sisters who worked hand-in-hand in developing a state of community importance through competing and winning. Leaders are not only leader but also students of the art. The Coach and winner of the Performance and Excellence Award: Coach Frankie Mohammed, we CONGRATULATE you with the highest honour for your exceptional leadership qualities and community mentor-ship. Those who get to work under your direction will gain tremendous strength and wisdom. We wish you, the boys AND the families a very successful career.

To our Notable Elders: Chief Osayi Omoruyi and Chief Idemudia (Edo State Association of Canada). Thank you for your underlining support through all that you do for the immediate community and other Canadian communities. May God continue bestowing his wisdom and strength in all that you do. “Dormor Sir”

To OUR Recipients & Nominees: congratulations on a job well deserving. Hard work is not just the physical aspect but the development of great minds and acknowledgment. You all have done tremendous work for the community and we believe that you will forever be our back bones in establishing the greater sense for community involvement.

To OUR Distinguish Presenters: Mr. Martin Harvey , Police Inspector Mark Saunders, Ms Tricia Trotter, Ms Carol Allen, Mr. Austyn Akpataku, Miss Creole Canada Queen: all of you are exceptional community icons and heros for the day to day work and effort you put into making a diverse cultural society in Canada “One Superb Nation”. Keep up the good work and may more come your way.

To OUR Teams and their players: the Managers are the hero for the success of CCACN SPORTS and we commend all their true efforts. Our appreciation for your involvement goes way beyond words. You are the true identity of what we are to achieve in its highest form. THANK YOU EVERYONE.

To OUR outstanding guests: YOU ARE THE GLAM of the city. You all look so proud and adorably exceptional in all the wonderful traditional outfits and urban fashion wear. We are grateful for your presence and look forward to serving you in the highest point of our ability. Each year we will grow together.

To the Production & Technical Crew, Media Liaison: THANK YOU for making the moment lives on. You are good at what you do and stay close, more to come.

Finally, to my wonderful partner and team members: CCACN Sports is the celebration of our UNITY. Together we rise, Divided we shall rebuild our commitment. I personally THANK YOU for the “outstanding” job you all did each and everyday. The dream is ALIVE. Keep it up.

We would like to take this opportunity to excuse any logistical faults that occurred and we hope that with this as the first year ever for this event, you will all look at it as a stepping stone for us to improve on areas and present it to a much more quality function. We ask that you please let us know if we can somehow host a separate dinner event for those who could not enjoy the food or had any.

With God’s Almighty blessings,

Ammar Kamara, Chairman & CEO, Canadian Cup of African Caribbean Nations
