Sesay who is currently in the Kingdom to perform the fifth pillar of Islam, Hajj, was speaking shortly after arrival outside Terminal 5 at the Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud International Airport last Thursday, 12th November, 2009.
“I am sure every patriotic Sierra Leonean will pray for the country. If our country forges ahead, it will be good for all of us,” Sesay reiterates.
He also appeals to all Sierra Leoneans to be supportive to development projects initiated by President Koroma, a move he says, “Will help to improve the living standards of the people”
The Ex-Minister also states that: “As we are here to answer to the call of Allah, let us imbibe its significance, tolerance, love and forgiveness for another.”
As a nation, he continues, history has offered us another opportunity to redefine and redesign the future of our dear country in a direction that would strengthen the bond of unity, foster the spirit of oneness, enhance development, and promote good governance.
For his part, Employment, Labour and Social Security Minister, Hon. Minkailu Mansaray, said he was proud to be amongst 497 Pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj.
Mansaray also appeals to all Sierra Leonean pilgrims to use this holy period of spiritual renewal to demonstrate love, peaceful coexistence and forge bonds of unity that make Sierra Leone and its people great.
On behalf of his government, the Labour Minister urges the pilgrims to focus on the progress, prosperity and the well being of their country and their government.
However, both men commended the Sierra Leone Embassy under the leadership of H.E. Ambassador Wusu B. Munu and his Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery, Mr. Ibrahim S. Yilla, for the excellent arrangements they have put in place towards the successful hosting of this year’s Hajj.
Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, which every adult Muslim must undertake at least once in their life time if they can afford it and are physically fit.
According to statistics available with the Saudi Hajj Ministry, every year over two million Muslims converge on Mecca- to take part in an event which combines piety and passion.
