The Sierra Leone Health Ministry Administration in collaboration with Reproductive Health Care Unit and Sanitation in support of UNFPA recently organized a free medical treatment distribution to fight against HIV/AIDS. Those targeted for the free treatment were school going children and social workers in Pujehun town and it environs and business men from Gbodapi Pujehun district took part in the exercise.
According Saffa Pujeh one of the beneficiaries told this press that the treatment given directly targeted the market area like Mattru jong, in Bonthe just as they are now doing in Pujehun District respectively.
Hundreds of people traveling from sea to land are also included said Mr. Saffa Pujeh. He said when asking a nurse who supplied him the medicine, she told her that they are treating them because some people normally have casual sex when traveling with the treatment and a condom supply to them can help prevent them from sexually transmitted in the business renowned towns.
He said they as beneficiaries were addressed by the UNFPA coordinator Sister Fatmata Lansana who said the organization is sustaining the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the country. She commended the management of Sierra Leone Health Administration for organizing the business men and women to be treated, adding that the treatment is free and accessible to the entire public.
According to Mr. Pujeh, he said the coordinator key statement of the Reproductive Health in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation Sister Saffi Foday explained about the signs and symptoms of sexually transmitted infection which she said can lead to serious ailment if not treated . Sister Foday advised both business sellers and buyers with ordinary people to make use of the condoms supplied to them if they are to avoid the pangs of the HIV/AIDS Pujeh said. Saffi Foday admonished partners to be faithful in their relationship and appealed for voluntary tests to know their status.
Mr Pujeh also said that the youth chairman in Pujehun Brima Mando told him that such was not the first time the Ministry of Health had supplied them medicine as they can recall early last year when they came with the same programmed but at that time it was purely for the fishermen within the community.
