VP’s condolence Rejected
A recent report in one of the local tabloids has stated that the 1 million Leones allegedly sent by vice president Sam Sumana to the Kellie family on behalf of the death of Mr. John Kellie, an APC agbagba is yet to be accepted. Sources coming from Kono say, the late John Kellie before he passed away was on three occasions prevented from seeing Sam Sumana, his kinsman to seek assistance for proper medication. Moreover, according to some family members who prefer to be anonymous disclosed that there’s no need for the VP to sympathize with them when he failed to assist the late man when he was alive.
APC Manhandled the Development of Kono says Hon-Kamanda
SLPP Hon. Dr. Brima Kamanda of constituency 15 in the Kenema District has revealed in parliament the APC under the auspices of the late Dr. Siaka Stevens destroyed Kono. He said under the Sierra Leone Selection Trust (SLST) which was later transformed to the National Diamond Mining Company (NDMC). He further revealed that communities where these mining operations were carried out never benefited from the destructive activities of these mining companies. He also warned that this new mining policy under the current of minister of mines should not be carried out hastily as it might not the serve the interest of the people who owned their land.
LUC vexed over land thieves
The local unit commander of N. Division, Tankoro Chiefdom in Kono District, Amos Sawyer has expressed anger over the manner in which police land has been encroached upon. LUC Sawyer in his angry mood has ordered some police personnel to evict everybody on the said land. Tangible reports have unveiled that the land in question has been acquired since colonial days for the purpose of future extension. The LUC also affirmed that this land grapping this time round was done while he was away on an official duty for his country.
Kemoh Sesay admonishes pilgrims to pray for President Koroma
Former Minister of Transport and Aviation Hon. Kemoh Sesay, speaking at the fifth station at the Prince Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud International Airport has requested that pilgrims should use the Hajj opportunity to pray for the president Ernest Koroma and the country. Kemoh Sesay in his brief remarks said that “if our country forges ahead, it will be good for all of us”.
SaLone born soldier to lead NATO troops
Sierra Leonean born Captain Christian J. Smith of the American Military serving NATO troops based in Belgium took over from Captain Joven Kabrick as commander of the HHC, SHAPE battalion. Captain Smith and Squadron Kuyateh posed and give a broad smile over this achievement.
