Death of Army Chief – soldiers say yes, family say no thumbnail

Consequent to leaks that the Army Chief of Defense Staff  (CDS) has passed away Wednesday 2nd in Ghana at the 37 Military Hospital; soldiers say information is true, but family members and Defence Ministry officials disproved.

Soldiers working at the 34 Military hospital, few days past, were observed spreading unofficial information to the gullible public that their boss – Major General Robert Yirrah Koroma – who was getting medical treatment in Ghana has died.

It is a fact that Major General Koroma was urgently flown to Ghana for health check due to heart shock.

Sources say that the Army Chief, in the recent past, was at his office at Defence headquarters, but got an attack and in effect, fell into coma, which consequently resulted to paralysis.

He was first admitted at the Choithram hospital at Hill Station, later transferred to the 34 Military hospital where eventually it was resolved that he be flown to Ghana for further treatment.

That the order to have him flown to Ghana came upon the advice of the Director of Medical Services at the 34 Military hospital, Lt. Col. Sahr.

Albeit the recently put out press release by the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Samuel O. Williams, which among others state that Maj. Gen. Koroma is alive and currently receiving treatment in Ghana, rumors fly the airwaves that he died two days ago.

A source in Ghana has however disclosed to this press that the Army Chief is alive, but in a critical and uncertain condition. It is also told that plans are underway to have him flown to the United States for further medical treatment.

His situation, our source emphasized, is hopeless and discouraging.

Up until press time, it is still not known whether the Army Chief has been flown to the US or is still getting treatment in Ghana.

However, the office of the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff has called on all to join the Army to pray for the quick recovery of their boss, Major General Koroma.
