A non-governmental and Philanthropic organization called the  ‘Sierra Leone Arc of  Hope’ December 13th will engage President Koroma who is to ‘turn sod’ for the commencement of the construction of an ultra-model children’s hospital in Waterloo.

This epoch venture will showcase the good intentions of the Chairman of the Board of Sierra Leone Arc of Hope, Dr. John Sandy, who for so long, was determined to see Sierra Leoneans get accessible and affordable medication.

It could be recalled that the Sierra Leone Arc of Hope is an initiative of Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora communities and as well as those at home.

The organization was borne out of Sierra Leoneans quest to improve the appalling health situation in the country.

The organization has long acquired a piece of land on the outskirts of Freetown (Waterloo Township), and possesses an approved architectural drawing of the proposed children’s hospital.

“A Healthy Nation is a Wealthy Nation”, the PRO Sierra Leone Arc of Hope, Adeyemi Paul, said.

“This,” he said, “formed part of the organization’s propelled objectives as it wrestles with the unacceptable rate of infant and child mortality in Sierra Leone.”

“It is of the essence that Sierra Leoneans residing offshore must exhibit patriotism and nationalism.  This commitment must however be directed to the health sector,” he continued.

In a telephone dialogue with Sierra Express Media, the Board Secretary of Sierra Leone Arc of Hope, Ms. Nanette Thomas revealed that the turning of sod event will be followed by a charity Gala and an Awards Night December 17th to raise finance for the construction of the Hospital.

She said that the pomp and pageantry event will be unfolded at the Country Lodge, Hill Station, Freetown and that it will raise funds for the construction of the children’s hospital; which will surely act as a legacy to children in commemoration of Sierra Leone’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
