SOCFIN Agricultural company in land grabbing

People of Pujehun District have in one voice accused management of SOCFIN Agricultural Company of land grabbing.

Quite recently, it was reported that President Koroma has intervened into the issue of payment of benefits to owners of lands currently occupied by SOCFIN Company.

The Member of Parliament for Constituency 88, in the Pujehun District, Hon. Sheka Musa Sama, has in an interview disclosed to this press that President Koroma’s intervention in trying to solve land misunderstandings which has been ceaselessly causing troubles between indigenes of Pujehun and SOCFIN Agricultural Company will virtually not work at all.

He said lands owned by residents of Samalinge Chiefdom must be given them by SOCFIN, a company he described as full of land grabbers.

He said further that President Koroma is forced to intervene because of the recently reported disturbances within the Chiefdom.

“President Koroma will by no means help solve the problem of people of Samalinge Chiefdom, but rather give more power to the operations of SOCFIN Agricultural Company though,” Hon Sheka said.

It is a fact that there have been complaints of disturbances land owners and SOCFIN Agriculture Company in relation to lands in Samalinge Chiefdom.

A committee, our investigation revealed, was lately appointed to look into land misunderstanding between people of Samalinge and SOCFIN.

Charles Mambu, who was serving as Chairman in the committee, on completion of his investigation, submitted a report to the Ministry of Agriculture with recommendations which are seen as completely dissatisfactory to the land owners.

Hon. Sheka has told this press that he will surely not sleep or slumber, but fight to get back lands owned and belonging to people of Samalinge.

“We the land-Lords and the time will come when shall have to take back our lands that land grabbing agricultural company,” Hon. Sheka said.

“Executive powers will but for a moment. God is greater than executive powers.”
