Training For Farmers Starts

The first training of 1,00 farmers from four districts (Moyamba, Port Loko, Kambia, and the Western Area) is currently underway to ensure effective and efficient farming activities in line with available improved and affordable technologies. The training has been initiated by the Multinational NERICA Dissemination Project, and facilitated by the Extension Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Rokupr Agricultural Research Centre.

Investors Expected Soon

It is reported that following the just concluded Investor’s Conference conducted by the government of Sierra Leone in London, some of the investors that expressed interest in investing in Sierra Leone are expected to arrive soon.

HRH Prince Charles of England and HRH Hashim of the United Arab Emirates are said to have given full assurance  in assisting the government of Sierra Leone get investors.

ACC Incorporates 29

The Anti-Corruption Commission Boss, Abdul Tejan Cole, has said the Commission has now established twenty nine new offences adding to the already existing ones in the Act.

The new offences include misappropriation of donor funds as well as the impediment of foreign investment in Sierra Leone amongst others.

6 Officers for Armed Robbery

Chris Charley, who doubles as Western Area Regional Commander and Assistant Inspector of Police for Crimes has disclosed that six among twenty two suspects currently in custody and being investigated for suspicion of armed robbery are security personnel. Four are police personnel whilst two are soldiers.

He added that one of the detained police personnel is an Assistant Superintendent of police.

Failed Student Attempts Suicide

A first year student of the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET) Goderich Campus, Mariama Bah, was rushed to the Emergency Hospital at Goderich after she was found unconscious in her room with a bottle containing what is believed to be a poisonous substance. The student is said to have attempted suicide after the college exams officer told her she had failed.

CAMPVO Complaints HANCI to the President

Campaign for the Voiceless (CAMPVO) in collaboration with parents and guardians of adopted children have written to President Koroma, contesting the adoption of their children by an NGO called Help A Needy Child International (HANCI). The letter called on the intervention of the President in the adoption case. The Complainants are anxious to know the whereabouts of their children which, according to them, have yet to get any satisfactory information about their children for over five years since the adoption.
