Tunde Scott expresses Leone Stars interest

Tunde Scott (in photo) told Sierra Express Media Sport UK that if the authorities in Sierra Leone believe in him they can rewrite history in qualifying Leone Stars for the 2013 African Cup of Nations Finals in South Africa by overturning the 2-1 disappointment against Sao Tome & Principe in the first leg qualifying fixtures.

The East End Lions Manager has expressed an interest in becoming the new Leone Stars Team Manager.  The former FC Kallon Manager was left crest fallen a fortnight ago when Sierra Leone lost to a lonely rated Sao Tome side by giving away a goal lead, after Sierra Leone was tipped as the favourite ahead of the Sao Tome encounter.

Although the result did not come as a surprise to many Sierra Leone pundits, Scott said “for me it was a surprise, I don’t live in a dream world, football is on the day and a better preparation when you have top level players does not mean you win every match, it is about the approach and what is important is that you believe and prepare well,” said the East End Lions manager.

“With my experience in football, I am confident to help Swedish Olof Mattson in coordinating players and I have worked with most of the top players now in the Leone Stars team, most of which I bred in my days with FC Kallon, the likes of Strasser, Tetteh, Ibrahim, and Mohamed Bangura” he said.

Leone Stars will host Sao Tome in Freetown in June in the second leg, and Scott wasted no time to say with the score line Leone Stars can easily turn around with better preparation.

“It’s a fact that at home Leone Stars can turn things around, but it is up to the manner in which Leone Stars approach the game, football is no sentiment, we have watched Leone Stars defeat great teams at home, however it is not enough to count on the past, if Leone Stars can get the first goal early a win is a possibility,” said the Lions Manager.
