Students at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, have demanded a mainstay in the university’s dormitories ahead of their first semester exams.
Speaking to Sierra Express in an interview, O’Bryan Sesay, student of the Faculty of Engineering, who is also Minister of Housing and Accommodations, said the university administration and court took a decision last academic year to remove students from their various quarters on the excuse of renovation. Since the renovations were completed by a private company, he says, some students have not regained back their quarters, he stated.
“Exams are commencing March 26th, we need these places to earn us better preparations for the exams”, the mood protesting students fumed.
O’Bryan Sesay confirmed to have received several calls from students who are desperate to go back into their dormitories. He promised to fix the problem before the exams commence.
Sima Aleman Conteh, the Student Union President, said the university court will meet today (Wednesday) to deliberate on the issue and see how best it would be resolved.
