Dr. T.B Kamara, Medical Consultant at the National Action for Social Action (NaCSA) solicited to treat war victims, told Sierra Express Media in a chat that he discontinued his services on war victims due to a sum of Le70 million the institution owes him.
Dr. Kamara says the amount bargained for the patients’ bills has totalled Le 70 million in cash. He said he cannot add any deficit on top of that as funds available in War Victims coffers are not disbursing.
SEM understands that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Kamara of the Connaught Hospital and NaCSA which detailed that he should be treating war victims as the case may be when they fall short of illnesses.
Some victims require snuggeries for bullets in their body systems and are currently growling in pain over services the Doctor has withheld. Dr. Kamara under the MOU signed is supposed to treat, check and where necessary give advice for some victims to be taken abroad for thorough treatment.
A 45 years old war victim, Salman Jalloh currently hosting seven gun shot bullets in his body since 1999, met his shock a week ago at the Connaught Hospital when Dr. Kamara denied him services on the excuse that NaCSA owes him Le70 million.
Salman Jalloh told SEM that he was assigned to one Doctor Baimbah Bayoh from February 2000 to June 26th 2003. He claims his situation has never improved as the hospital management failed to carry out the said operation and hence he had to discharge himself from the King George Home hospital, Lower Parsonage Street, Kissy, east of Freetown.
He said an X-ray result he obtained from Mercy Ship in 2004 indicates that the only way he could be rescued is to be flown overseas. But NACSA are saying Dr. Kamara is the only one to facilitate such a process.
Meanwhile, Salman Jalloh has begun suffering a deformity at the spinal region where he was shot.
