After playing to a goalless draw in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup 2012 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on Saturday March 25th in the first leg of the second round, Nigeria’s Warri Wolves are more than desperate to kicked out their West African counterparts the second weekend in April.
Sources close to Sierra Express Media Sports UK have stated that Warri Wolves’ head coach, Maurice Cooreman, has said they are going all out to take the game to their visitors when the two sides meet.
The Belgian Cooreman revealed that his game plan in the first round, first leg match in Freetown was spot on, “In Sierra Leone the aim was to get a draw and so he deployed Uche Ossai to shut out star attraction Mohammed Kallon, as the Sierra Leoneans have built their game around the former Inter Milan ace”.
He said the bumpy and patched National Stadium pitch affected the performance of his team.
However Technical adviser and brother of club owner of FC Kallon, Musa Kallon, said Warri Wolves played a highly technical game which frustrated his team.
He admitted that his game plan of building the team around Mohammed Kallon backfired as his younger players struggled when Kallon was marked out.
Star player Kallon, who in frustration bagged a booking in the 64th minute in Freetown after he was fully marked by Uche Ossai will have to be careful for him not to see red in Nigeria.
Warri goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim was the star in Freetown for keeping a clean sheet that on few occasions was called to duty.
Despite FC Kallon’s record over Nigerian teams, it is going to be a tough away encounter this time considering FC Kallon’s away form where they lost to US Douala in Cameroon by a goal to nil before they eliminated Douala in Freetown with a 2-1 aggregate.
