Patriotic Sierra Leoneans are having their procession march this weekend – a procession to show their belonging to Mama Sierra Leone.
Their leader Mohamed Kamarainba (in photo) says a show of patriotism is worth celebrating as nationalism is that issue which makes one belong and share the feeling of being born in a particular country.
“Many thoughts have come into mind when the procession rally was being pronounced and we saw parallel organizations advancing similar tributes to an extent saying thanks to President Ernest Bai Koroma, but we did not intend to make the issue of nationalism political”, Kamarainba stated.
“We have to give the nationality issue a big try; what will solidify us as Sierra Leoneans is our tolerated spirits of love and affection for one another”, noted Kamarainba.
He said activities such as a million man patriotic march, road adoption cleaning policy, and political debates, are being lined up to entice the calendar of activities in the build up to the November elections.
Many citizens for example, he said, need to be educated and tolerated as in that is a great future for youths of Sierra Leone to learn and cope with the issue of patriotism and nationalism.
Mohamed Kamarainba said the dark history of violence would be laid in the past if Sierra Leoneans should imbibe in them a culture show of patriotism.
March 31st, he said is that day Patriotic Sierra Leoneans have set aside to unify Sierra Leone once again. “Let’s see if we can borrow a leaf from the sale of nationalism Sierra Leoneans portrayed in the events marking the country’s 50th anniversary – an era wherein the green, white, and blue was the blueprint. “We were not talking tribes and regions then, all we kept talking and showing was Sierra Leone, the land that we love”, Kamarainba preached.
Asked how persons should get involved in the patriotic million man marches, he said all they need to do is come out in their numbers. Those in the east part of Freetown will assemble at Up-gun and proceed through Kissy Road to the historic Cotton Tree; and those in the west part of Freetown will assemble at Brookfields and walk to the Cotton Tree where the day’s grand ceremony is going to be held.
