Texas, USA. November 26, 2009. The President of the All People’s Congress Social and Cultural group (APCSC) Texas Chapter, Nanette Thomas has made another acclamation to the President, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for his vision to the development of Sierra Leone. She calls him “The President with a Vision.” Following a series of development projects that are going on in Sierra Leone, and the way the world warmly welcomes the President at the Investors Conference in England, Nanette Thomas arrived to the conclusion that President Koroma is the right person at this time in the history of Sierra Leone who will fulfill the wishes of his people and is ready to face the global challenges of poverty alleviation.
Sierra Leone has come a long way in a short space of time, she said, adding that the country is now regarded as a place of real potential on the African continent, and it is ready for significant international investment. Despite the fact that it will take years to rebuild the devastation that the past government has left behind by wrecking the economy through massive corruption, we must be hopeful in Sierra Leone so long as the right pilot at this time is taking the flight in the right direction, she faithfully said.
Nanette Thomas made her remarks in response to an interview about her participation on the international donor’s conference that was held last week in London for Sierra Leone, organized by Tony Blair who set up the Africa Governance Initiative in 2008. She reiterated that the significance of the President’s main subject of change was worthwhile and appealing to all participants. Therefore, she made a candid appeal to every Sierra Leonean at home and abroad to obtain a copy of the book entitled: “An Agenda for Change Second Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRSP II) 2008-2012”. This document will tell you exactly the framework of strategic plans for Sierra Leone by the APC led government.
At the opening of the conference on November 18, 2009, the Texas APC Chapter President breaks up with a sudden wave of keen emotion when former Prime Minister of Britain, Tony Blair praised His Excellency, President Ernest Koroma to be a man of integrity, vision and a trustworthy leader, one of the few in sub Saharan Africa. She said, “When Tony Blair told the investors that Sierra Leone is not looking for aid, but looking for partners to work with, I then came to the conclusion that Sierra Leone indeed has got a President that is a force to reckon with. I am very proud of my president and I am extremely proud to be a Sierra Leonean,” she cried. “The plans and implementation to save Sierra Leone was convincingly a heat reality in the consultative conference according to the general views of so many participants,” Nanette observed.
Despite her busy schedule, the Texas APCSC President squeezed her agenda and prioritized her country’s agenda first to be able to participate in the international investors conference designed for Sierra Leone. She indicated to me that she would not be self-fulfilled if she had not attended the conference. This is not been the first time Nanette Thomas has made a huge sacrifice for the progress of her beloved country. She has been active in every Sierra Leone major function in the USA. She attended the U.N General Assembly a month ago. She also attended the conference in California where the First Lady was one of the speakers. She is very involved in the APC North America Branch, a party in which she strongly believes in. She said “Are born APC are go die APC.”
President Ernest Koroma’s ‘Agenda for Change’ has been a major challenge that Ms. Thomas has committed herself to play a part in her country’s platform of poverty reduction. She has been campaigning to various churches, organizations and business people to make donations for the Sierra Leone Arc of Hope project (SLAH), a non-governmental project that is geared towards constructing a State of the Art hospital in Sierra Leone. She continues to invite Sierra Leoneans who will be going to Sierra Leone on holidays to attend the Fund Raising Dinner and Dance of SLAH under the distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bia Koroma and First Lady Mrs. Sia Koroma. The occasion has been scheduled to be held on December 18th, 2009 by 9.00 p.m. at the Country Club, Hill Station, Freetown, Sierra Leone. Patrons are asked to donate Le500,000. Singles will donate Le200,000.
Ms. Thomas is being seen in the spotlight as one Sierra Leonean that clearly shows understanding of the challenges facing our country. She puts her country first and is ready to make sacrifices not for herself, but for the benefit of the nation. She said, “No matter whatever it takes and cost, I will continue to talk about Sierra Leone, a country that was once called the ‘Athens of West Africa’ and present its values to the world.” She ascertained that Sierra Leoneans of any tribe or party affiliation listen to her message because it is fruitful.
Nanette Thomas’ vision and love for her country has been widely reckoned all across the United States and North America. Even the opposition party members of Ernest Koroma’s administration here in Texas have made testimony that Nanette Thomas will be a good asset to the planning and promoting of national development in Sierra Leone. “Thank you Nanette Thomas for your excessive effort,” a supporter of SLPP remarked.
At the consultative conference in London, the President of APCSC Texas chapter catalogued some of her vital experience for which she would like to share with her fellow Sierra Leoneans, especially in Texas and across the globe. First and foremost, she said, President Ernest Koroma has brightly coloured back Sierra Leone on the world map following his genuine Agenda for Change and his personalities being presented at the international donor’s conference. She further stated that the conference is symbolic to our nation due to the fact that the world is again enthusiastically ready to work with President Koroma.
One other enchantment factor she observed at the London conference was the fact that investors from all over the world attended the conference, and are now willing to invest in the country.
Nanette Thomas emphasizes the need to have a sense of unity among us in the Diaspora while providing sameness and continuity presentation with personality over our country’s integrity and values. We have the right to enjoy democracy with freedom of speech, however, freedom of speech does not mean freedom to destroy she opined. The deception over the song, “Yesterday Beteh Pass Tiday” is an attempt to undermine the great effort of the government that is trying to alleviate poverty and remove the mess that has been left over by the previous administration. She assured me that, no matter how much the opposition spends their time, energy, and money to destroy the development strides of President Koroma’s administration, the president will surely prevail. The impact of the President’s method of integration will be a model of Sierra Leone politics, Nanette Thomas concluded.

Excellent undertaking!! Marketing Sierra Leon’s mineral/natural resources to International Investors in the London Conference could not be overstated. A country that had suffered from 11 year barbaric uncivilized civil war; classified as one of the poorest nations in the world according to UN Development Index has a long way to move foreward. Taking 70 delegates to such a conference is very troubling as to the anticipated outcome.Inviting international investors to Sierra Leone up to 70 delegates could have injected funds in to the local economy at the very least than the other way round. It is yet to be seen what will be the REAL outcome. For now, let’s tune down the praise-singing lyrics.
