Salman Jalloh is a living corpse

Salman Jalloh a war victim registered by NACSA in 2009, at the National Stadium swimming pool in Freetown said he was shot with a hunter’s gun in 1999 in the northern town of Kabala on the eve of the ECOMOG Military intervention in Freetown.

He said the remnants of combatants flushed by the ECOMOG in Freetown sought refuge in the provinces and he came in contact with them at Fadugu, Tamiso village in the Koinadugu District while he was a stranger in the village.

He said two out of the six men he saw carried guns and as he was trying to escape from their presence he was triggered with gun shots on his back.

He survived the bullets and he now battles the pain as he is without money to carry out the bullet removal surgery.  He had been rushed to Guinea for medical attention but could not be tended to due to lack of money.

In the year 2000, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Guinea, Dr. Sekuba B Saccoh arranged for his repatriation and was transferred to the Connaught Hospital in Freetown.

From 2000-2003 Salman Jalloh spent all his time at the Connaught Hospital without being tended to by the Doctor assigned to him, Dr. Baimba Bayoh while Dr. I.I. Tejan Jalloh was Minister of Health and Sanitation.

He was discharged on the 6^th, of February in 2003 and transferred to the King George Avenue Home situated at Lower Parsonage Street, Kissy, east of the capital Freetown.

Salman Jalloh is currently 45 years old. He is unable to stand upright as his spinal cord was hit by one of the bullets.

Momodu Boie Jalloh, Salman’s only son is not going to school any more because his father cannot afford paying his school fees.

Salman Jalloh is supposed to be one of the beneficiaries of the War Victims’ Fund President Ernest Bai Koroma launched in 2009 but the Medical Consultant–in-Charge of the war victims said he ceased his services as the project owes him seven hundred million Leones for his services rendered to the war victims.
