Sierra Leone’s leading sports betting company, Mercury International has assured members of Premier League Board on Monday May 28 that they are ready to sponsor the second leg of the season long campaign with the sum of Le200 million. Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh, the Chief Executive officer of Mercury International made an upfront payment of one Hundred Million Leones cheque to Premier League Board chairman, Mr. Victor Lewis.
Speaking at the Programme, the executive chairman of Mercury International Charity Foundation, Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh revealed that the company has stopped sponsoring football across the country due to certain reasons but this time round will continue to sponsor football activities in the country including the premier league Board.
The Premier League Board Chairman, Mr. Victor Lewis assures Mercury International that the money would be judiciously utilized. He thanked the company immensely and tagged the league as “Premier League for Peace”.
Mercury International also donated Le250 million to the Regional and Football District Associations.
Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association, Mr. Morrison Sannoh thanked Mercury International for their timely intervention to rescue the Football Association from drowning the league.
