As the National Delegates’ Conference of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) is just a skip to catch, some senior members of the party have vowed to disqualify Charles Francis Margai (in photo) should he make another attempt to run for the flag bearer and leader position of the party for the third time.
Members of the PMDC said the period 2007-2011 marks Mr. Margai’s complete two terms of office stipulated in the PMDC constitution. They said they will not consider the added clause, which recently stated that no elections should be held for the national executive including the leader till 2013 as all positions including that of the leader are going to be competed for.
In another development, the Acting National Public Relations Officer of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Mr. Muniru Koroma has condemned a recent statement their leader Charles Francis Margai made in Moyamba, which party loyalists have considered to be of tribalism.
Meanwhile, stalwarts of Moyamba District have said the PMDC is a party for all tribes and that the party is not restricted to a particular tribe, region or religion.
The PRO further referred to a statement made by Charles Francis Margai quoted as saying that he was the one who single-handedly handed over power to the ruling All People’s Congress as unfortunate. He said if the leader ever made such a statement it was unfortunate and it does not reflect the views of their party.
Mr. Muniru Koroma in another development states that one of the aspiring candidates for the flag-bearer position has vowed to single-handedly sponsor the PMDC’s national delegate’s conference slated to take place on the 28th of June this year at the northern Headquarter Town of Makeni. Crying out loud, this goes to suggest that without Mr. Charles Francis Margai’s contribution the convention would go on successfully.
