Sea Coach Express owned by Nigerian business magnate, Olusegun Dadanji is set to offer free optical medical treatments to residents of Aberdeen, Murray Town on June 21 to 23 and at the Mahera Community on June 25, 26, and 27 as part of their company’s corporate social responsibiliy.
Speaking to this press in an interview, he said the initiative came about as a result of an experience he had in prison following his arrest in December last year, on allegations of cocaine trafficking.
He said he had an itch on his eye and the prison service could not address his problem until he had to visit the UMC eye clinic for proper examination of his eye. During that visit, he encountered that there are a lot of people with similar cases, and were unable to afford the optical services due to lack of money. “I offered to pay for all of them”, he revealed, “and henceforth, from such moment I developed the idea of establishing a charity that would take care of people’s eyesight problems for free”, he stated
He said a total of about 500 people are going to be involved in doing sight checks, eye examinations, optical services, surgery, and treatment of patients.
He went on to say that, other eye treatments will be done at different centers in Aberdeen and Mahera whilst the surgeries will be done at the UMC Eye Hospital Kissy, in the east part of Freetown.
Olusegun Dadanji in summing up disclosed of his plans to replicate the same treatment in other parts of the country.
