Musa Kallon, elder brother of Leone Stars former skipper, Mohamed Kallon has been appointed as Technical Director of First Division side, Sheffield United FC. His unveiling ceremony took place at the Aberdeen playing field last week.
Speaking in front of jam packed gathering, Musa Kallon said he is delighted over his new position as he promised to give his best in making his boys the new shining gems in the country, so long as they are prepared to learn, obey and implement his discipline.
Speaking on behalf of the club, the CEO of Sheffield United FC, Fred Claye said having Musa Kallon as Technical Director of this club is his biggest achievement so far this year. He told Sierra Express Media Sports that he is impressed with the training tactics of Musa Kallon knowing also better that Musa is a serious teacher and a disciplinarian.
Musa Kallon is the elder brother of both Kemokai Kallon and Mohamed Kallon and all have played for the National team, Leone Stars for more than a decade.
Musa Kallon is a former player of Mighty Blackpool and E.E. Lions and used to ply his professional trade in Cameroon, Turkey, and Indonesia but decided to hang his footballing boot and embarked into coaching courses.
Returning home Musa Kallon trained FC Kallon owned by his younger brother Mohamed Kallon and in 2003 qualified the country’s U-17, Sierra Stars Team to the African Nations Cup and came runners up at the tournament in to Finland, thus, came back home with his boots full of pride.
In 2004, he went to Spain for youth seminar, coached Central Parade, before he left for Indonesia in 2008 where he helped train kids across the world for four years at the can GGU Club football Academy in Indonesia.
Musa return home to train the senior national team but as usual was again frustrated, as most of the players he took to Swaziland and Finland in 2003 are the current products of the Sierra Leone National team.
He vowed to help Sheffield United in building the players talent in his next five years contract term.
Concluding he said it is saddens him to see the FA and the sports ministry abandoning him (their own son of the soil) who brought laurels to this country from being a foreign scout to coach his national team and succeeded in grooming better players for the country.
“I’m optimistic of qualifying this current crop of a team once again to the national level and God willing; they will grow to play in the world cup someday”.
