The people of Constituency 100 comprising of Kuntoloh, Thunder Hill, Old and New Low-cost Housing, Samuels and Looking town communities east of Freetown have endorsed Robert Kondema Kargbo of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) to run for the position of Member of Parliament in Constituency 100.
The endorsing ceremony took place during a meeting held at Newcastle Street, Kissy. According to Hassan Kargbo, a community member during the meeting said for far too long Constituency 100 has been deprived of basic amenities, noting that with Robert K. Kargbo being a project writer, he will help bring development in their backyard community.
Suber Conteh, a community activist said regardless of the political party Robert Kargbo wants to use their ticket to parliament, his contributions in the constituency cannot be compared to past and present members of parliament that have been representing Constituency 100.
He said the gentleman has aided the reduction of illiteracy through an Adult Education program; provided bags of cement for the construction of a water dam at upper Thunder Hill Community and has created an impact on the lives of people living with disabilities.
In response to the cries of his community people, Robert said history has it that since the genesis of politics in the Constituency 100 not a single born and bread Kissytonian has represented them in the House of Parliament, but strangers that have spent long time in the constituency.
He said, because of that reason, MPs representing that community are always in the habit of diverting development meant for the constituency into personal use. Robert said he is vying for the position to ensure that what dues his people comes directly to them thereby sparking social change into the lives of the poor especially in the lives of the deprived persons, hence stimulate progress and sustainable development.
