Matotoka, July 6 (SLENA): The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has approved the Sierra Leone Muslim Secondary School as centre for the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) at Matotoka in the Tane Chiefdom, Tonkolili district.
This was disclosed to SLENA by the Acting Principal of the school, Mr. Samson Yembeh Bangura during an exclusive interview.
According to Mr. Bangura, this year about 400 candidates from 33 primary schools took the NPS exams at the newly established centre.
The approval, Mr. Bangura noted, has solved the socio-economic problems that hitherto affected candidates who used to take the exams outside Matotoka.
He disclosed plans to write to WAEC requesting that body to again approve the school as centre for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), especially for the four secondary schools at Matotoka town.
Mr. Bangura, however, expressed delight and appreciation to WAEC for the approval, describing it as a step in the right direction and commended the Peace Corp Volunteer, Brian Chee alias Abu Kargbo for providing a hand pump to access water for the school.
He appealed to the Directorate division of the Ministry of Education, Magburaka for the approval of a senior status of his junior secondary school.
