LUGANO, Switzerland – (July 10, 2012) – New Holland Agriculture announced it will be Associate Sponsor of the World Sustainable Agriculture Congress, which will be held in Singapore on the 11th and 12th of July 2012. The conference will bring together the whole food value chain, including agribusiness and farming leaders, food manufacturers, NGOs, academics and policy makers to discuss the challenges and solutions needed to achieve sustainable agriculture for future food security. The speakers, which will include Mr Gaurav Sood, Head of Crop Solutions at New Holland Fiat India, will discuss and encourage a debate on the latest farming technologies, sustainable agriculture initiatives, ecosystem-based approaches to land use and growing trends in farm mechanization among other topics.

New Holland, the Clean Energy Leader

New Holland’s sponsorship of the conference falls within the framework of its Clean Energy Leader strategy, which reflects its commitment to the environment and its view of the role of agricultural manufacturers as key to safeguarding the farming environment for future generations. The brand is focused on developing solutions that make farming more efficient while respecting the environment. This is the basis for its Clean Energy Leader position, which includes its pioneering work with biodiesel, low-emission technologies compliant with Tier 4A regulations, biomass, the Energy Independent Farm concept and the NH2™ hydrogen tractor and the carbon footprint reduction.

Sustainable approaches to agricultural production

New Holland’s presentation at the conference will take place on the second day, opening the session on “Next Generation Crop Technologies for Sustainable Agricultural Production”. Mr Gaurav Sood will present an insight into the benefits of mechanized sugarcane harvesting and biomass collection.

Complete systems for sugarcane cultivation and biomass collection

Leveraging on its global footprint, targeted initiatives and long standing market presence, New Holland – with sister company Case IH – supports sugarcane and biomass projects in India, improving productivity while enhancing the development of sustainable agricultural practices. New Holland provides its extensive expertise and complete range of machinery, from rugged and easy-to-use tractors and implements for all soil preparation and cultivation operations as well as transportation, to balers and rakes for the collection of biomass to be used in stand-alone and cogeneration power plants. In addition, the company has access to Case IH’s offering of industry-leading sugarcane harvesters and expertise.

These types of projects, which are supported by the most efficient technologies and cultivation methods, highlight how well-planned agricultural mechanization can contribute to raising the economic, environmental and social conditions of rural areas for present and future generations in high growth and emerging markets.
