Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Joseph Bandabla Dauda (in photo) arrived today (10th July 2102) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the Twenty-First Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Executive Council meeting holding from the 12th to 13th July.
The meeting will take place in the New African Union Conference Centre.
This year’s African Union Summit is themed: “Boosting Intra-African Trade”.
The Executive Council is composed of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Member States of the African Union and they meet at least twice a year in ordinary session. The Executive Council also meets in an extra-ordinary session at the request of any Member State and upon approval by two-thirds of all Member States.
The Foreign Ministers will discuss items submitted to them by the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC) in preparation for the upcoming AU Summit of Heads of State.
The Ministers of External Affairs will deliberate on the different reports of the Ministerial Meetings organized by the Commission during the last six months.
They will also consider the activity report of the Commission; the recommendations of the PRC on the implementation of previous Decisions of the Executive Council and the Assembly of Heads of State and the report of the Ministerial Committee on Candidatures.
Upon arrival at the Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Minister Dauda was warmly received by the following: Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, His Excellency Mr. Andrew Gbebay Bangali; Mr. Amadu Koroma, Deputy Chief of Mission; Mr. Francis Edward Kandeh, Counsellor and Head of Chancery; Mr. Amos Coker, Financial Attaché; Mr. Christopher Bockarie, Second Secretary and Mr. Kebebe Tefera, Office Manager; Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Addis Ababa.
