Three Aspirants May Battle for FA Top Job in August thumbnail

Seven candidates were initially expected to battle out in the race for the much trumpeted and eagerly awaited FA Presidential elections now postponed to August 23-25 to be hosted in Kailahun Town.

However, the number has now been narrowed down to three, leaving the Acting FA Vice President, Joseph S. Keifala, the Ex-Chairman Bo District Council Football Association, Mr. Rodney Michael and founder/owner of FC Johansen, Madam Isha Johansen.

JS Keifala is a veteran football administrator who helps spearhead the construction of the two football academies at Kingtom in Freetown and Makeni. He has been sponsoring the Kamboi Eagles Football Club financially for the past 15 years including his provision of a bus for the team, and football gears.

Also JS Keifala has been organizing CAF grade ‘C’ License Coaching and Refereeing courses and it is during their flagship tenure that the national football team, Leone Stars improved their standard of performance climbing to 59th position in the world football ranking.

JS Keifala was also chairman of the Kenema District and Eastern Region Football Associations respectively.

Rodney Michael popularly known as “Super” has contributed immensely in the development of football in Bo District, Southern Region of Sierra Leone, for the past 20 years. On several occasions he has contributed football equipment across the country.

He  ran a successful football administration serving in the board of the Sierra Leone Premier League, whilst organizing successful leagues in the past since his introduction of the idea in 2001.

He is the founder of Edmoud Michael Football Foundation promoting kids in Bo District and recently helped coaches undergo a CAF organized training course in Freetown.

Madam Isha Johansen popularly known as ‘Iron Lady’ is the founder of Premiership Club FC Johansen, whose team has participated in several youth competitions in Spain, U.S.A, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Gambia, Ghana, and Nigeria and twice hosted youth International competitions in Freetown.

Recently she dished out financial assistance to female teams with her husband being the brain behind the capture of Leone Stars Swedish Master Tactician, Olof Mattsson.

47 delegates across the country will be converging in August to elect one of the three big guns in Kailahun Town that is likely to succeed Nahim Khadi’s eight year tenure in office.
