The John Monrovia community-gala which commenced on Sunday, July 22nd at the Juba Barracks playing field will feature twelve community teams within Ward 394, namely All Stars Utd (1), Western Rangers, Young Stars, Augusta, Manchester City, Young Pipe Line, Striker FC, German FC, Real Mack, Collier Compound, Tejan Cole FC and All Stars Utd (2).
On the opening day, All Stars United (1) were held to a 1-1 draw and the gala continued on Monday 23rd July with Augusta F.C. defeating Young Stars F.C. 2-0 and on Tuesday 24th July Manchester United defeated Young Pipeline F.C. 2-0.
Speaking to the sponsor of the community gala competition, Mr. John Monrovia, who is also aspiring as an independent candidate for councillorship in the November 2012 elections, said he is delighted that the competition has commenced and security is water tight and also added that there will be attractive prizes for the champion, runners-up, and other individual awards. He appealed to all participating teams to be law abiding throughout the competition as football is not all about life or death but to create good relationship, fair play and community brotherhood.
John Monrovia is the Team Manager of Juba football team for the past few years and has organized and sponsored several football competitions within the community and other areas in the West Area.
