Politics dishes out more PhDs

Politics dishes out more PhDs thumbnail

The rampant awarding of certificates especially the Pull Him Down type, otherwise referred to locally as PhDs is becoming too alarming in Sierra Leone motivated largely by gross greed, selfishness, inconsideration, narrow-mindedness – the world needs to know, – have completely overcome the minds and even the souls of Sierra Leoneans, especially the politicians and their cohorts (those hanging on their political vehicles).  If one politician is not defaming another to put himself/herself on the spotlight as the genuine savior of the people with deceptive motives, he/she might be engaged in something more clandestine and deadly to be mentioned here. What kind of politics is this, my people?

The alleged impropriety leveled on our Vice President, Alhaji Chief Sahr Samuel Sumana by an American citizen left many Sierra Leoneans with no option but to compose distasteful songs about his personality; and worst of it all the name of our president, Ernest Bai Koroma was mentioned – in such hogwash.  Whilst the matter takes the place of our national anthem, apologies from the so called Heiligman for mentioning the name of our president on matters he knew nothing about, came pleading.

For our VP, he announced to Sierra Leoneans that the accusations were baseless, unfounded and above all false.

Whether our VP was involved in business with the American imposter or not does not interest me.  I am obliged to share with fellow Sierra Leoneans that they should not allow politics to continue to undermine their sense of judgment.  It is not unwise to hear one side of a story and instantaneously jump into conclusion especially when it comes to matters of persons representing the rest of us to the world.

Politics is fast becoming a curse to this nation; instead of improving on our intelligence as higher creatures, it is driving our mental judgments to the level of the lower creatures. I cannot possibly imagine what I would do to anyone who calls my parents as thieves because they have been accused of stealing.  An accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
