Two strong men in the All People’s Congress (APC) received gifts (plaques) in the holy land of Mecca from the party’s Saudi Arabia branch shortly after the completion of their “Hajj” rituals.

Presenting the gifts on behalf of his executive to the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray and former Aviation and Transport minister and current Chairman of the party in the Port Loko District, Alhaji Ibrahim Kemoh Sesay, the Chairman, Mr. Sorie Kanu said:

“It is in the spirit of patriotism and respect for our country and party elders that we are here to present you with these plaques as tokens of our recognition and appreciation of the exemplary roles that each of you has played since in the history of our party.”

Receiving his gift, Alhaji Minkailu thanked the APC Saudi Branch profoundly on behalf of the APC Party and pointed out that: “One of the outstanding facts in the history of the APC is that we have fraternity, unity and love for one another.”

He encouraged them to work hand in glove and continue their good work; appealling to the Sierra Leone Embassy to support the young men and women in the APC Saudi Branch. He promised to extend their greetings to H.E. President Ernest Koroma.

For Alhaji Kemoh Sesay: “This is a very memorable day which I will never forget. The gift has left an indelible impression in my life. The words written on the plaque touched me.

“You didn’t only give me a plaque, but memorable and wise words.  This is the best plaque I have ever received in my life time. I’m very excited today and will report to the party headquarters in Freetown.”

The short but colourful ceremony was chaired by Head of Chancery/Minister Counsellor, at the Sierra Leone Embassy on behalf of the Ambassador, H.E. Wusu Munu who was unavoidably absent.

In another development, Alhaji Kemoh Sesay has been commended for the patriotism he demonstrated to Sierra Leonean pilgrims at the Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah last Friday before they departed for Freetown.
“Alhaji Kemoh was the last man to check-in and to board the aircraft. He made sure that our luggage at the baggage section was properly taken care of, helped us go through Immigration and security,” a good number of pilgrims said before they departed.

They added: “These are the people supposed to be in governance; because they believe they are servants of the people and not masters. He really impressed us, particularly when most of our agents we paid to for the Hajj abandoned us and went into the aircraft without helping us go through the rigorous security screening.”

“We admire Alhaji Kemoh for his patriotism and courage he has for his compatriots. We shall inform the authorities back home about his assistance to us since we entered the holy land. He’s indeed a true Sierra Leonean who has love for his people and country.”
