A high powered delegation of newly crowned 2011-12 Premiership Champions, Diamond Stars FC on Sunday 5th August 2012 left Freetown for Kono with several motorcades and was received by Paramount Chiefs, Elders, football stakeholders, and the Kono residents who welcomed the 1st Provincial premiership champions with several  motorcades at Bumpeh, few miles to Kono Town.

According to the PRO of Diamond Stars, Mohamed Komba, he said they were welcomed with massive crowds of supporters to the Tankoro Native Administrative Barray where the team was officially addressed.

Dignitaries present at the gathering included Paramount Chiefs within Kono District, Ex-Diamond Stars chairman Alhassan Coker, Mr. Philip Faboi, and several district personalities.  The team is currently on off-season awaiting preparation for their new season training for the African Nations cup South Africa trip and the contract of new players to strengthen the squad, he added.

In the awards ceremony Diamond Stars FC grab trophies and medals in the area of 2011-12 champions, Best coach, and Best Team of the season.
