The much trumpeted and eagerly awaited Brima Keita Football Inter-community Competition commenced on Sunday 12th August, 2012 at the K Tee Playing Field, Kingtom, Freetown.
The opening ceremony kicked-off in front of a host of dignitaries including the sponsor – Chairman, Brima Keita. In gracing this ceremony, local based musicians performed and engaged a football friendly against Sports Journalists which ended 3-1 in favor of the musicians.
The kick-off was taken by the Chairman, Brima Keita accompanied by some other high profile football gigs including former Bank Governor J .D. Roger, in which Crab Tong Vs. Kroo Bay FC played in the opening match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Both teams commenced the match with a classical display; Crab Tong FC took the lead through a penalty kick by Osman Mansaray in the 21st minute of the first half.
Ibrahim Kamara popularly known as Gareth Bale leveled the score in mid second half to settle for a point each.
The match between Krootown Road FC and Priscilla Street FC on Monday August 13th ended in a comfortable 3-1 victory in favor of Krootown Road FC, and on Tuesday 14th August, Janet Lane FC will lock horns with Israel FC.
