SLPP declares support for APC councilor thumbnail

Madam Theresa Conteh, a staunch SLPP member, has told the Councilor of Portee in Constituency 99, Ward 355, East of Freetown she and her family are impressed of the APC councilor to the point that she declared their unflinching support to the APC vanguard in running for the same position.

Mrs. Theresa Conteh made this pronouncement at a ceremony the seating councilor organized to ask the consent of his constituentcy to run for the position for a second term. Mrs. Theresa said she was impressed with the courage and strides of the councilor and described him as the man who has the answer to the key problems that are affecting the constituents of Portee and its environment.

Much was said about Councilor Alusine Corade Conteh ranging from his ultimate concern and care for the health of his constituents and his developmental projects. Councilor Conteh built and donated a health center called ISCON situated at Williams Street, Portee, and the occasion saw a cross section of its staff presenting a cash donation of Le 500,000 to the Councilor to pre-finance his second term bid into becoming the councilor for a second term. The Portee Big Obasai Ojeh Society also donated the sum of Le 1 Million cash for him to buy the Party Symbol brochure. Another staunch SLPP member Mr. Mamoud Kamara of Railway Line, Portee, donated the sum of Le 100,000 cash.

The Member of Parliament for Constituency 99, Hon. A. G. Kargbo noted among other things that from his own estimation, Councilor Conteh is the best Councilor in Sierra Leone as he has done a lot of things within four years in office. Hon. A.G. Kargbo cited the construction of ISCON Health Center at No.6 William Street Portee, his construction of bridges and also donating desks, chairs, pens, pencil, exercise books, and awarding of scholarships to children entering their JSS 1.

The MP stated that the councilors term of office has ended since August 11th 2012 and he called on the people to support him for the symbol as he has no doubt in his mind that when he comes back he would do more than before.

In response, Chief Pa Alimamy Osoila II of Portee, Chief Pa Alimamy Bongo of Rokupa and the Koranko Chief of Rokupa, all pledged their support for Councilor Alusine Conteh for a second term.

When Councilor Alusine Conteh took the podium, there were jubilations from his people chanting his successes. They shouted: “success is ensured for your second term”.

Speaking to the people, he said all he wanted to say was to thank them for their trust and confidence reposed in him. “Trust me I will not let you down”, Councilor Alusine Conteh told his people.

In another development, Sheik Yusif Asalaf of the Islamic Mission Mosque of Bai Bureh Road, offered special prayers for Councilor Alusine Conteh on Eidul Fitri and pledged his support of him. “God has destined you to lead people so no amount pulling will stop you from achieving such a goal. Please be focused, firm and dedicated to what you believe in as God the Almighty, will see you through”, the Sheik concluded.
